Walk and Talk Therapy Tool
Walk and Talk Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates walking outdoors while talking about issues and problem-solving with your therapist. Walking outdoors, breathing in fresh air, and connecting with nature offers multiple environmental benefits for those participating in walk and talk therapy. However, this form of therapy isn’t just about walking outdoors. It’s also about connecting with your therapist during a shared experience that encourages introspection, problem-solving, and focusing on the present moment. Walk and Talk therapy is often used by Holistic Therapists, Eclectic Therapists, and Somatic Therapists; but can be integrated into most forms of therapy including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment, dialectical, and narrative based therapies.
Walk and talk therapy is different from general talk therapy and can provide many benefits for clients who may struggle in the ‘traditional’ setting. This may include neurodivergent clients, clients who struggle with eye-contact or intimacy, clients who struggle to sit still, etc. This resource provides information on Walk-and-Talk therapy in addition to helpful F.A.Q’s.
